Description
This procurement covers the following CDC study: Investigation of immunoglobulin (Ig) GM and KM gene polymorphisms in susceptibility to and pathogenesis of malaria and HIV in children and pregnant women in Kenya. It involves Ig GM/KM allotype tests in 3,000 samples collected from two concluded malaria and HIV epidemiological projects conducted in Kenya. Dr. Janardan P. Pandey, Professor of Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina, is an expert on Ig GM/KM allotyping, having investigated these gene polymorphisms as they relate to several infectious diseases including hepatitis C, influenza, typhoid fever, leprosy, onchocerciasis, filariasis and malaria. He has characterized the genetic allotypes of many different populations including Amazonian tribes, Malaysians, Philippinos, Indian Punjabis, African tribes, Norwegians, Ecuadorian Cayapas, and Chileans. To the best of our knowledge, his laboratory is the only laboratory in the United States that has established and standardized those methods for Ig GM/KM allotyping. However, CDC will consider all responsible sources responding to the RFQ. Award of a Purchase Order in accordance is contemplated. All questions/concerns about the RFQ shall be submitted via e-mail ONLY to Bbiltz@cdc.gov. The RFQ document will be available and posted at this site for downloading. No telephone requests of the solicitation will be accepted. No hard copy of the RFQ will be mailed. It is your responsibility to keep up with additional postings regarding the RFP on the Fedbizopps website
