- The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate Rome NY intends to solicit and negotiate a sole source purchase order under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 with The Mathworks Inc, 3 Apple Hill Drive, Natick MA 01760-2098 for the following items: ITEM 1: Distributed Computing Toolbox QTY: 1 P/N: DMWIN ITEM 2: Extended Symbolic Math Toolbox QTY: 2 P/N: EMWIN/EMALL ITEM 3: MATLAB Distributed Computing Engine 16 pack QTY: 1 P/N: DW16 Though this notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, information received by the response date of this solicitation will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The NAICS code is 511210. Sole Source Justification: MATLAB is a standard mathematical research tool in wide use throughout the scientific, government, and academic communities. AFRL/IFGC requires this software to enable scientific research exchange, collaboration, and peer review among these communities. In-house government researchers utilize MATLAB when prototyping new research ideas. Prior research, the foundation for much new research and development, was conducted with MATLAB prototypes. MATLAB software is proprietary to and solely distributed by The MathWorks Inc. Therefore Mathworks is the sole responsible source for this requirement.
