- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a sole source purchase order to the Transportation Research Board (TRB) to conduct a workshop on Transportation for the Nation for Geospatial Information for the Nation. TRB will organize a workshop of potential transportation stakeholders to investigate the likely applications and benefits such as a system to the transportation community; identify like users and beneficiaries; discuss key data elements for transportation modes to be included; suggest potential roles, techniques and approaches to integrate data for multiple sources. The goal is to get input on different approaches form the geospatial experts to a basic framework so the Geospatial information related to the transportation system can be shared as national resource to better manage the transportation system and better understand its impact on the health and welfare of the Nation. TRB is uniquely qualified to assemble scientific and engineering expertise of the highest reputation from the public and private sector to address national problems and issues. TRB is also uniquely qualified to develop the document that provides a wide range of views on how to address the concept of the Transportation for the Nation. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about July 10, 2007.
