- There is no solicitation. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Contracting and General Services Division in Portland, OR has plans to award using other than full and open competition to Praqua Supplies Limited of Nanaimo BC for the following items: 1) Vaki Micro counter single channel system which counts fish from 0.2 g up to 200 g in size with 4 inch pipe fittings; and 2) Vaki Optional Size Estimation software package. This equipment safely moves fish exclusively in water without exposing them to air (in some cases, extreme weather), thus reducing diseases causing stress on the fish and also reducing repetitive lifting and bending by staff to inventory and move large numbers of fish. The single channel counter has the capacity to count up to 500,000 - 1g fish per hour and uses a line scanning video camera to detect and count fish. It also records an image of each fish that has been counted making later count verification possible. Praqua is the sole North American supplier of the Vaki fish counter. The Service intends to award Sole Source to Praqua Supplies limited. This synopsis is a notice of intent to issue award using other than full and open competition and is not a request for competitive proposals. The determination of the Government not to open subject requirement to full and open competition was made IAW FAR 6.302-1.
