- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is planning to purchase the replacement commodities and installation labor from Trane. Items to be replaced are the Evaporator Coil Module in dehumidification system #2 and Compressor in the Trane Model RAUA-8004-EB condensing unit #3. This is a direct replacement of the existing dehumidification system for the Lake Lynn Experimental Mine, which was originally designed and installed in the early 1980s by Trane. By purchasing a direct replacement of the original equipment, the cost of installation will be minimized. The dimensions and performance of the replacement must be compatible with the existing system in order to eliminate any unnecessary field modifications. The agency is unaware of any comparable product on the market that will be compatible with the existing system and therefore meet the needs of the agency. The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR part 13.106-1. This is not a request for quotation and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
