- The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces a Request for Qualifications from firms interested in contracting for soil mapping in various locations in southern Arizona. This need is in response to ?The President?s Management Agenda? and a driving force in the Agency restructuring of the National Cooperative Soil Survey program resulting in acceleration and completion of soil mapping on all private and tribal lands within a 5 year time-line. Services from the private sector is one of the ?agenda? focus areas. Private sector individuals, firms, and entities interested in providing these services are to submit five copies of completed form SF-330 to the contracting office at the address shown in this announcement, as well as any information that will assist with evaluation of selection criteria. Standard Form-330 can be obtained from the following website: http://www.gsa.gov. Soil mapping shall be conducted in accordance with all applicable standards of the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS) as contained in the Soil Survey Manual, National Soil Survey Handbook, Soil Taxonomy, and USDA Arizona Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and NRCS Region 8 Technical Requirements. Soil mapping will require but is not limited to professional knowledge of soil terminology, soil properties, soil classification, genesis, morphology, soil-landscape relationships, and soil survey techniques and procedures.
