THIS IS A PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE ONLY. THE SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THIS SITE ON OR ABOUT 7/3/07 (NOT BEFORE). PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE CONTRACTING OFFICER REQUESTING SOLICITATION PACKAGES. RATHER, ANY REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION SHALL BE SENT TO Judy_Ferris@nps.gov. The National Park Service is seeking proposals from conservation firms qualified to undertake the examination and conservation of an antique coffered ceiling located in the Dining Room of the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY. the painted and gilded ceiling, measuring approximately 30' X 50" is comprised of a section imported from Ittaly in 1898, and elements added by Herter Brothers for the Vanderbilts during the construction of the house. The project will be performed in phases including a full examination, preparation of a conditions report and treatment proposal, implementation of approved conservation treamment (based on availability of funding) and preparation of a report documenting the treatment work. Base award will be made to contractor determined to be most qualified to perform the inspection at a price determined to be fair and reasonable and for preparation of the conditions survey and treatment proposal. The work of the treatment will be awarded by modification to the base award.
