- The Postal Service is seeking Qualification Statements from prime general contractors wishing to be pre-qualified, for a fixed-price contract to complete an approximately 113,000 s.f. HVAC Upgrade. The work location is: Processing & Distribution Facility, 591 Brevard Rd., Asheville, NC. The work includes removal/demolition of portions of the existing HVAC system; alterations/upgrades to portions of the existing HVAC system; the installation of new air handler units; fan coil units; ductwork; controls; wiring piping, etc. abatement of hazardous material and repairs to interior finishes as required to accommodate the HVAC upgrades. All work is to be done in accordance with USPS approved plans and specifications. This facility is occupied and in use 24 hours per day, seven days per week. There will be no disruption of mail processing operations. The total construction time for the project is 210 days, estimated cost range is $1,500,000 to $2,000,000. USPS subcontracting goals for this contract are miniumums of 30% for small businesses (less than 500 employees), 20% for minority-owned businesses and 7% for women-owned businesses. PRIMARY FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PRE-QUALIFICATION ARE company background, past performance, experience, financial stability, capacity to perform, bonding capacity and safety. Contractos must possess a valid contractor?s license or provide a copy of the application to obtain such license in the State of North Carolina. PRE-QUALIFICATION STATEMENTS.
