- The Department of Transportation?s Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) Acquisition Division is conducting market research for a requirement for cafeteria food services on-site at the Volpe Center, a federal office building complex located in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA. This announcement is not a request for proposals. Our evaluation of the responses to this market research will enable us to determine the most appropriate procurement strategy. The Government will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this announcement. The ongoing cost-sharing contract for cafeteria food services for the Volpe Center will end soon, and continuing services are required. The population of the Volpe Center is approximately 1,200. There are many fast food vendors within an easy walking distance of the Volpe Center. The Government will provide the cafeteria facility, including the kitchen, dining room, plumbing, refrigeration, equipment and furniture. The vendor will operate at a profit or loss and will provide the personnel, materials, and food necessary for cafeteria food services. According to the current contractor?s operating statement, total sales for 2006 were $231,000. Interested vendors should respond with the following information: (1) A statement of the vendor?s capability to provide the required cafeteria food services; (2) a brief description of the vendor?s experience with providing cafeteria food services; (3) the vendor?s small business size and socio-economic factor status, such as HUB Zone, 8(a), Small Disadvantaged Business, and whether the status is certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA); (4) the vendor?s DUNS number and CAGE code (Note: the applicable NAICS code is 722310, cafeteria food service contractors, and the size standard is $19.0 million. Questions about NAICS code and size standard should be directed to the SBA); and (5) Point of Contact information: individual?s name, email address, and telephone number.
