- The US Forest Service is interested in finding potential sources to provide Type 1 infrared services used to detect and map wildland fires. The government intends to set up multiple basic ordering/purchase agreements (BOA/BPA) with qualified vendors to provide these services on an as needed basis. Type 1 infrared systems are utilized to detect small heat sources distributed over large geographic areas and to map large wildland fires. Type 1 systems are capable of imaging large wildland fire incidents quickly to provide data for the Situation Unit Leader (SITL). The information is used to help in the development of the Incident Action Plan (IAP). Type 1 infrared systems are mounted on twin-engine or jet aircraft and can cover large geographic areas quickly. The government would require the contractor to be on call and provide the aircraft, pilot, Type 1 sensor system, associated support equipment and sensor operator. The contractor will be responsible for providing the sensor output (data) in a format that is compatible with the Forest Service and Department of Interior Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The government base of operations for these services will be the National Interagency Fire Center located in Boise, ID.
