- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Acquisition Center intends to temporarily contract on a sole-source basis with Medline Industries, Inc., One Medline Place, Mundelein, IL, for the delivery of products directly to patients. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 41 U.S.C.2503(c)(1). VA has determined that currently only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements. The proposed contract action is for direct-to-patient distribution of over the counter medical/surgical products for delivery to patients in the 50 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico for a period of 60 days with two 60-day option periods. The short-term contract will be an indefinite-delivery, requirements contract in accordance with FAR Part 12 procedures in support of VA's Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy program. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete t he proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
