- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award a sole source firm fixed price (FFP) award, using authority under FAR 6.302-1, to The Raytheon Company (Raytheon), El Segundo, CA for the procurement of the F/A-18 APG-73 fielded version of the Single Module Processing Element (SMPE), Part Number 5095210-5, National Item Identification Number (NIIN) 01-3989745, to support the retrofit incorporation of the Expand 4/5 capability into the F/A-18 aircraft. The anticipated quantity requirement is 40 SMPE units, and the anticipated period of performance is 2 years from date of award. As the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the AN/APG-73 radar system, Raytheon is the only known source that can provide the requisite radar knowledge, experience, and technical data required to quickly respond to this requirement.
