- Description
- The contract requires the construction of a variety of structures in and adjacent to False Creek in order stabilize the stream and improve fish habitat. The types of structures to be constructed include Log Cross Vanes, Wedge Dams, Debris Jams, Boulder Weirs, and Straw Bale Check Dams. Planting and seeding the areas disturbed by construction activities will also be required. Construction activities shall be performed during the appropriate fish window (July 1 to August 15) or as approved by a Fisheries Biologist and as water levels allow. The project area is located in the Meadow Creek drainage, approximately 7 air miles southeast of the town of Grangeville, Idaho. False Creek is a tributary to North Meadow Creek, which flows into Meadow Creek. The stream is approximately 2.5 miles in length. The project area is located in T30N, R5E, Section 19, BM. The project site is accessed via State Highway 13 and then on Forest Road 244 (Lightning Creek) past McComas Meadows. The lower reaches (1 and 2) can be accessed by the gated Forest Road #244C where road 244 crosses over North Meadow Creek, follow road #244C to #9473 and then to #9473A. The upper reach (3) can be accessed by continuing on Forest Road 244 to Forest Road 1852 and then to Forest Road 1851. Construction is expected to begin during the 2007 field season. Estimated price range of the contract is between $25,000 and $100,000.
