- Description
- This is a hazard fuels reduction project on 69.6 acres (base plus all additive items totalled) of the Beartooth Ranger District of the Custer National Forest. The Grizzly Peak Hazard Fuel Reduction Project is a continuation of recent hazard fuels reduction projects south and west of Red Lodge, MT along the National Forest boundary. It is intended to develop a Fuel Modification Zone (FMZ) capable of being used if a wildfire burning on the National Forest threatens adjacent private property. Hazard fuel treatment would be near the Grizzly Peak Subdivision, Remington Ranch Estates and surrounding rural homes. This project is intended to reduce fuel loading and thin conifer stands, thus increasing wildfire suppression effectiveness. The project is located on the Beartooth Ranger District on the Custer National Forest 3 miles west of Red Lodge, Montana in T7S; R20E Sections 19, 30 and 31. See Attachments 1 and 2 for project vicinity and project area maps. The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the specified areas. All aspects of the work program shall be performed in an organized, systematic manner to assure services will be performed over the entire unit. All responsible small business sources may submit a quote, which if timely rec'd will be considered for award. Anticipated award date is June 14, 07 with work starting shortly thereafter.
