- The Postal Service is seeking Qualification Statements from building contractors wishing to be pre-qualified for a fixed price contract to renovate approximately 100,000 square feet of unfinished space for the anticipated deployment of new mail processing equipment (Flats Sequencing System) at the Kansas City Processing & Distribution Center located at 1700 Cleveland Ave Kansas City, MO. The project includes expanding existing HVAC and electrical systems, adding a mezzanine, stair tower and other misc. work. This project is in a fully functional mail processing plant which must remain operational 24/7. The total construction time for this project is 180 days; estimated cost range is $3.5M to $4.5M. PRIMARY FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PREQUALIFICATION are company background, past performance, experience, financial stability, capacity to perform, and safety. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PREQUALIFICATION, A COMPANY MUST MEET THE FOLLWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: (1) Company must have a minimum of five years experience in this type of work. (2) Company must have completed four comparable projects within the past five years. (3) Company must be capable of obtaining performance and payment bonds for 100% of the contract price for this project. Qualification statements will be evaluated by qualified personnel selected by a USPS contracting officer. All firms will be notified within 60 days of receipt of their Qualification Statement as to prequalification status.
