- This is a modification announcement to the Combined Synopsis/Solicitation 07SQ171009. The site visit was held on 4/26/07 and the following questions and answers are to be incorporated into the solicitation. 1. Rotor height and diameter? 81-1/4"H, 370-1/8"dia 2. Will there be any potable water hose bibs that can be used by the Contractor in both the Right & Left Powerhouses? Yes 3. Who is to supply Cleaning Fluids? Contractor - BUT - they can only use ND 165 as well as denatured alcohol on stator or rotor pulled parts. 4. Use of Dry ice / CO2? - Not possible or feasible. 5. Lead testing? XRF Machine - Analysis surface test for lead. Available to test substrates to determine if lead paint is present. This testing would have to be coordinated with the project safety office 24 hours in advance. The coordination would be accomplished through the COR. 6. Load lbs. on plate? Enough to support Contractor's operations. 7. Clean pits on outside of generator? Yes - they are above the level of the plate inside the generator. 8. Auxiliary Equipment list for G-6: Radiators-8 (can be wet method), upper bracket (Class IV), lower guide bracket (Contained - Negative air containment), I Beams (Class IV), Rotor (Contained - no water on outside / water on inside ok. Water not allowed on any part of the rotor itself.) G-14: Same except: Radiators-6, commutator (no wet method), thrust bearing base (water ok) 9. What kind of Asbestos test on stator? Aggressive air test. 10. Open ports to vent outside? Yes 11. Negative air method on radiators? As with all equipment to be cleaned it will depend on the cleaning method the Contractor utilizes. If aggressive cleaning methods are used, then negative air containment will be required. If the Contractor can clean w/wet methods, then negative containment would not be required. 12. Can the water from the radiators, once it has been tested clean, go down Gov't drains? Yes 13. How do Contractor's "quantify" the dust material? Based on established limits provided using dust wipe samples and visible dust accumulations. 14. Lead on Radiators - clean w/wipes - as w/all equipment to be cleaned it will depend on the cleaning method the Contractor utilizes. If aggressive cleaning methods are used then negative air containment will be required. If the Contractor can clean w/wet methods then negative containment would not be required. 15. Is a Safety Job Hazard meeting required and if so, how long would it take? Yes, it would require approximately 2 hours. There will also be a Safety Meeting that will require approximately 1 hour. 16. Is there 360 or 440 electrical power? Yes, but Gov't needs 48 hour notification. Change Section 5.2 to read: In the absence of any regulatory based clearance level, the level at which an area is considered to be clean is the pre-abatement asbestos air concentration or 0.1 fibers/cubic centimeter, whichever is greater, as measured by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM).
