Description
The focus of this program is the development and execution of an inlet design trade study for embedded higher bypass ratio engines (BPR greater than 2). The effort should focus on design trades followed by screening of a variety of concepts to meet the system level goals set forth. The offeror is encouraged to leverage current and relevant prior studies in making host configuration selections and to emphasize technical substantiation of the inlet system and integration issues. Some key attributes of the host configuration include effective STOL performance, speed agility, all-aspect survivability considerations (including, but not limited to overall system redundancy, damage tolerance, etc.), and overall layout compatible with intense, high-tempo utilization in austere areas (by operators, maintainers and passengers) without sheltered storage. Sustained operations in extreme hot and cold (-65 to 125 degrees F) ground level temperature in all types of precipitation are anticipated.
