Description
The Portland District, Corps of Engineers intends to award an contract for South Coast Maintenance Dredging 2007. This procurement is being solicited as unusual and compelling urgency. This dredging project includes maintenance of small ports and t he U.S. Coast Guard station at Rogue River, removing an estimated 100,000 CY total. The port locations include Port Orford, Winchester Bay, and Charleston. Government furnished ocean disposal sites are furnished for all of the dredging locations. In add ition to the ocean disposal sites, the following dredging locations will have an additional river, in-water disposal site provided to allow an alternative in case of rough bar conditions: Umpqua River at 0.8-IW and Coos River at Site G, located at RM 1+05 +00. Water quality monitoring is required during all work. The Rogue River monitoring requires the use of a turbidimeter; the remaining work areas require visual monitoring of water quality. The Contractor shall be required to commence work within 15 da ys after Notice to Proceed, to prosecute the work diligently, and complete the work within 75 days. A Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided for all new contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District. For this project, the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of 3 years safety work with simil ar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last 3 years. The SSHO may have other duties for this work that include being the Contractor on-site Project Manager and/or the on-site CQC Manager or other responsib le individual.
