- The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) is seeking to obtain one or more contracts for outside legal counsel services with qualified legal firms by the issuance of specific task orders for services as required. The services may include, but are not limited to, assistance in the following areas: large bankruptcy and reorganization litigation; security arrangements; Uniform Commercial Code matters; complex trial and appellate litigation; legal and factual research; conducting and defending against discovery; engaging and preparing experts; researching and drafting memorandum, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents; filing documents with courts and administrative bodies; and assisting with negotiations or settlement. Performance under a task order may occur in any part of the United States, but there may be infrequent instances when an international presence is required. Performance may be required in the Supreme Court of the United States, Federal district and appellate courts throughout the United States, state courts, and bankruptcy courts throughout the United States. The contract will be for an estimated period of performance of a base year and four 1-year option periods. Telephone requests will NOT be honored. The solicitation document (RFP No. PBGC01-RP-07-0005) will be distributed through the Fedbizopps.gov website. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the site to assure that they have the most up to date information about the acquisition. The estimated issue date of this solicitation is within the week of June 3, 2007.
