- The US Army Space and Missile Defense Command intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Radiance Technologies, Huntsville, Alabama, for an increase to the ceiling on the current Radiance Contract DASG60-02-C-0069. The proposed action is pursu ant to 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1. This action is to support the continuation of current efforts relating to the analysis, assessment, and implementation of several technology developments levera ging space and missile defense capabilities to include both the exploitation of space technology for ground warfighter application and the development of space technology for space application. Award to any source other than Radiance would result in unacc eptable delays and substantial costs. This action will be a modification to the existing cost plus fixed fee contract. The ceiling increase will support the execution of work planned through November 2008. The significant duplication of cost involved wi th a new contractor is considered to be well beyond any cost savings that might be achieved through competition. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, this action is directed toward Radiance Technologies. This acquisition is not open to foreign firms. All responses should be directed to Dianne Trimble at dianne.trimble@smdc.army.mil and must be received within fifteen (15) days from the publication date of this synopsis. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. The proposed contract action is for supplie s or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent to negotiate a sole source modification to Contract DASG60-02-C-0069 is not a request for competitive pr oposals. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract modification based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. All responsible sources may submit a response which will be considered. This is NOT a formal notice of solicitation. Telephone or facsimile inquiries and/or responses will not be accepted.
