Description
The ships service and control air compressors on the T-AO 187 Class vessels need to be replaced. The current compressor units are inefficient to operate, costly to repair, and maintenance intensive. MSC will replace the current models with a more efficient, more reliable type of air compressor that has an economically feasible preventative maintenance program. The ships service air system requires clean, dry, oil-free air to serve various shops, whistles, atomizing, and tool hose services. The control air system serves various pneumatically operated valves, main engine clutch control, shaft brake, and various control valves. Eight ships of the class have already replaced the Nash units with Quincy Air Compressors (Model #QSI-220) and Quincy Air Dryer Packages (Model #QDTH-250). The use of the brand name, Quincy Air Compressors (Model #QSI-220) and Quincy Air Dryer Packages (Model #QDTH-250), is essential to the Government?s requirement and precludes consideration of a product manufactured by another company. These specific models are required to maintain configuration control among the 14 ships, maintain familiarization for shipboard and shore-side crews, and ensure commonality of spare parts within the logistics system. This acquisition will result in a Firm Fixed Price contract. Competition for this procurement will be other than full and open. The procurement will be limited to offerors who can provide the brand name products described above. The solicitation resulting from this notice will be available on or about 22 MAY 2007. Once the solicitation has been posted, it will be available at www.msc.navy.mil. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (17-MAY-2007). IT ACTUALLY APPEARED OR REAPPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 18-MAY-2007.
