- DESC: The Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC), Edwards AFB intends to award a sole source, Firm-Fixed Price contract, under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, to DRS Training & Control Systems, Inc., 645 Anchors Street, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32548 based on them being the only company capable of refurbishing Pod Tubes that are major components of the Global Positioning System (GPS) Advanced Range Data System (ARDS). DRS is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the tubes and sole owner of proprietary software and drawing packages. The Government will furnish 6 Pod Tubes, 94111002-1, for refurbishment which contains GPS components, is a five-inch diameter, nine-foot long tube that attaches under the aircraft?s wingtips via hanger and band assemblies. REQUIREMENTS The refurbishment will include stripping the tube of painting and part marking, removing old hanger assemblies, installing new forward hanger assemblies, center hanger assemblies, aft hanger assemblies, part marking to original appearance, priming, and painting. Government will package and ship the Pod Tubes. Period of performance is ten months after receipt of order. Ship Date: 10 Months ARO. FOB: Destination Edwards AFB CA 93524. Contractors interested in this requirement should submit a complete technical package, which provides clear and convincing evidence that they can meet the Government's requirement. In addition, the response should include any special requirements for a commercial contract (i.e., Commercial Financing, Warranty Provisions, Delivery Information, etc.) in accordance with FAR Part 12. Anticipated Award date is June 2007. Responses must be received no later than (NLT) 4:00 p.m., Pacific Standard Time, June 01, 2007. However, the Government will consider all responses received before the closing of this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
