Description
Black Powder Ammunition cartridges, (DODIC BP10), ceremonial 1. The following underlying conditions for the ammunition must be met: - Individual round: the paper is made up of standard bond paper (4 ply) rolled into a 0.50 in. dia. cylinder that is 4.50 in. long. - Cartridge is loaded with 0.02286 lbs. (0.010368 kg.) of black powder. - Top is crimped by rolling paper 3 times towards longitudinal center of the cylinder. - Type of Black Powder is: 150 grain FFFg. - Ammunition DODIC is BP10. - Pictures of actual ammunition rounds required/currently used are attached. 2. The aforementioned restrictions and conditions are required because: - The muskets used by ceremonial performers (.72 cal flintlock Brown Bess smoothbore musket) require this size, weight, composition, and grain of this round in order actually fire and to fire safely. - The rounds must fit in the units black powder transport containers; the only containers approved to transport black powder ammunition by the Army. 3. Due to the recent shortages in black powder ammunition, and due to the numerous approaching ceremonial missions that require the firing of black powder, we require an initial purchase/receipt of 4000 rounds on or about May 30, 2007 to sustain us for th e remainder of the years ceremonial missions. In terms of sustaining future black powder ammunition requirements, the unit requires a quantity of 4000 rounds replenished per year.
