Description

This requirement is being procured in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. The office of NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Pacific Island Fisheries Science Center located in Honolulu, HI intends to acquire the following items: 1) 20,000 Passive Integrated Transponder Tags (PIT Tags). PIT Tags must be ISO 134.2 kHz, encapsulated in glass or plastic; implantable with a 12 gauge needle; and, must be able to be detected by a Destron Fearing FS2001F-ISO reader base unit. Delivery is required by 15 June 2007 to complete tagging experiment. The Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center lobster research team implemented a collaborative spiny and slipper lobster tagging program in 1998. A series of spin and slipper lobster tagging and recapture cruises have already occurred at several banks within the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands and additional cruises (research and charter) are required. Originally, lobsters were tagged with streamer tags; however, in 2003 the project started using passive integrated transponders (PIT tags). Only firms that can provide the exact equipment described herein will be considered. All interested parties must respond to this announcement within fifteen (15) calendar days of its publication.
