MIXED OXIDE FUEL FABRICATION PROJECT Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC MOX Services is performing the design, construction, operation, and deactivation of the Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility at the U. S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site near Aiken, South Carolina. The MOX facility will be a major component in the United States' program to dispose of surplus weapon-grade plutonium. When operational the facility will be capable of turning 34 metric tons of weapon-grade plutonium in MOX fuel (pellets for reactor fuel assemblies) for use in commercial nuclear power reactors. The purpose of this Request for Proposals will be to award a competitive Firm Fixed Price Subcontract for "Release 2 of CP-20" (MOX Facility Substructure) for all the structural concrete for the slabs and walls needed to bring the main manufacturing structure from ground grade (Elevation 0'-0") up to the second level (Elevation 23'-4" in the BMP and BSR buildings and Elevation 17'-6" in the BAP Building). The order of magnitude for Release 2 is $30-$60 Million. The scope also involves the setting of tanks and security barrier doors, and minor electrical and mechanical work. The Structural Subcontractor shall supply all the necessary labor, materials (except the items noted below), equipment, and services, for the execution of this scope of work and should have experience in working in an NQA1 environment. QA/QC will be performed by MOX Services. NOTE: Concrete, reinforcing steel, embedded piping and embedded plates, tanks, and security barriers for Release 2 will be supplied by MOX Services. The general work scope includes site formwork, reinforcing steel, shoring, concrete placement and curing, embedments, and limited, mechanical and electrical work. Releases 1, the substructure of the buildings has been awarded and work will start on August 1, 2007. Release 3, the upper floors and roof of the buildings will be separately awarded subcontracts. Release 2 will include installation of approximately 25,300 cubic yards of concrete, 5,700 tons of reinforcing steel, and 1,376,200 pounds of embedded plates.
