Description
DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS/WORK STATEMENT ORTHOPEDIC COMPENSATION AND PENSION EXAMINATIONS (C&P) 1. PURPOSE: The purpose of this contract is to provide the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center with an orthopedist to complete orthopedic C&P examination requests. a. Contractor will be responsible to review orthopedic C&P worksheets and address the request by reviewing claims folders as appropriate, examining patients, documenting findings and providing an opinion based on the request. The projected workload involves 8-14 C&P examinations per month. There may be occasions for the contract orthopedist to review multiple C-files and make determinations for COVA Remands. b. All Compensation and Pension exams will meet all the requirements for the VA quality indicators (CPEP), which will be trained through the VA and updated as new requirements are released. Once the mandated national C&P examiner training is released, this must be completed within 3 months and certification must be maintained to qualify as an examiner. c. Completed examinations will be complete, concise and provide the appropriate . All C&P reports will be documented, either by dictation or inputting into CAPRI the same day of the examination. All C&P exams will be signed if dictated and any insufficient areas will be addressed and corrected during the next visit to the medical center. There may be occasions when dictated reports are mailed to the contractor to obtain signatures. c. Contractor agrees to provide coverage for C&P orthopedic clinics for set dates, which will be agreed upon between the contractor and the VA. This is normally one to two half days per month. 2. Personnel: a. Personnel assigned by the contractor to accomplish the services required shall be duly licensed, credentialed and privileged for such services by the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, West Virginia, in accordance with VHA regulations. VHA Credentialing and privileging process must be completed prior to any services being rendered by an individual practitioner. The contractor will assist the VA in obtaining appropriate documents for credentialing and privileging of staff. The contractor will notify the Chief of Staff's office as far in advance as possible of changes to the agreed schedule. 3. PAYMENT: a. The contractor agrees to provide an orthopedist to perform services covered by this contract as stated in item 1. PURPOSE. b. This contract requires the contractor to be present at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center and must be actually performing the required services for the period specified in the contract. c. Payments for services rendered by the contractor will be made monthly in arrears upon receipt of a properly executed invoice. Invoices will include the number of compensation and pension examinations or record reviews performed. RECORD KEEPING: For all compensation and pension examination requests or record reviews performed, documentation of examinations will be recorded by either dictating into the medical center dictation system inputting the information into CAPRI the same day as the visit. Dictated notes must be reviewed and signed by the next visit or in some cases the transcribed reports will be mailed to the contractor for signing.
