- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a sole source purchase order to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to provide support for the Technology Transfer for Asset Management in Transportation. This effort has largely focused on research and evaluating Asset Management activities both in the private sector as well as the State Department of Transportation?s (DOT) and other public transportation agencies. In cooperation with the AASHTO subcommittee on Transportation Asset Management, FHWAS has taken the lead in promoting usage of Asset Management principles in transportation and in providing access to information and assistance to States and other interested in implementing programs. The main objective of this requirement is to facilitate the collection development and dissemination of information on Asset Management practices. This service will aid the efforts of the FHWA, Office of Asset Management to assist State DOT in development and implementation of Asset Management practices. AASHTO is uniquely qualified to provide this service because of their ability to draw on and utilize the expertise of their members for review and comment during the collection and developmental process. No other known source can provide the required services. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about May 16, 2007.
