Description: Preservation Treatment of Historic Chimneys, Salem Maritime National Historical Site, Salem Massachusetts and Saugus Iron Works, Saugus, Massachusetts. Solicitation Number Q199070001. The work to be executed under this contract consists of documenting existing and post-treatment conditions, and executing preservation repairs to six brick masonry chimneys on two historic structures located in both Salem and Saugus, Massachusetts. These include the Derby House (1763) at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, and the Iron Works House (1681) at the Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site. Preservation treatments may include, but are not necessarily limited to, masonry repointing, resetting and rebedding of loose units, furnishing appropriate replacement units where originals are missing or deteriorated beyond use, and selective rebuilding, utilizing historically appropriate materials and techniques. Preservation repairs may also include patching or replacement of renderings on chimney stems exposed within attics or above respective rooflines. In addition, preservation repairs may also include augmentation or selective replacement of flashings, caps, and sealants. The National Park Service anticipates entering into a firm fixed-price construction contract as a result of this solicitation. This acquisition is subject to P.L.100-656, Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program, and as such is open to all concerns regardless of size. The NAICS code for this project is 238140 with a small business size standard of $12 million. The contract performance period is 120 calendar days following Notice to Proceed. In accordance with FAR Section 36.204, the estimated price range for this project is between $25,000 and $100,000. Contractors are urged to make a site visit to ascertain existing work conditions.
