- Description
- The National Data Buoy Center intends to negotiate only with Fairplay Publications DBA Lloyd's Register-Fairplay LTD of Miami, FL for an annual subscription service for FTP data feed, witrh monthly updates, 10 fields, 20 users and an annual internet subscription (to publish 1,000 ships). The data fields and licenses can only be purchased from Lloyd's Register-Fairplay because the information from a ship database of a different vendor would be different from that used by the Coast Guard. Because the VOS project provides a periodic ship authority file to the Amver system for use by the Coast Guard (through the NOAA Amver/SEAS server), buying this information from a different vendor would require monthly reconciliation between the Lloyd's-Register Fairplay information and the other vendor's information, requiring NOAA to have the Lloyd's-Register information anyway.
