Description
IFB 548-07-563 Amendment #2 April 9, 2007 THIS BID OPENING IS CHANGED FROM: APRIL 12 2007 at 2:00 PM EST TO: APRIL 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM EST. Additional Questions and Answers: Question #1. How are we to isolate each condenser water tie-in point? There does not appear to be any valves in the main pipe lines to and from the mechanical chiller building to the cooling tower yard or in the yard for each tower. Answer #1: Refer to keynote 7 on sheet H3.  There are existing valves currently at these locations. Question #2 Bid Item 002 Deductive Alternate 1 - states work to be accomplished for that item not deducted. The title leads one to believe that the price stated for the work will be deducted from the Base Bid is this correct? (example: the contractor writes down Bid Item 001 Base Bid for $1,000,000 and Bid Item 002 for $200,000. Is the $200,000 going to be deducted from the $1,000,000 if the deduct is elected, to give the contractor a total of $800,000 to do the project for Bid Item 002 OR should it be bid as Bid Item 001 $1,000,000 and Bid Item 002 is $800,000 and if Bid Item 002 is elected the contractor receives $800,000.) Answer #2: The base bid, Bid Item 001 is for all four towers. Bid Item 002, Deduct Alternate is for Two towers. It will be awarded based upon funding by the VA. Question #3 Can we get a copy of the sign in sheet for the pre-bid. Answer #3: Sign Sheet was posted with Amendment #1. Question #4 - Can 36" header be welded w/20" Weld-o-lets on branches? Answer #4: Yes. Question #5 - Please advise mfg and model of pumps being furnished by the VA. Answer #5: Information was posted with Amendment #2. Question #6 - The 12" balancing flume line between towers shown on drawing 1-H5 schematic show isolation valves. Where are they required if only towers CT-3 and CT-4 in phase I are accepted. Answer #6: Provide the connection point so the line can be extended in the future. Question #7 - Are triple duty valves and suction diffusers w/strainers acceptable in place of that shown on drawing 1-H3 and 1-H4? Answer #7: Multi function valves are acceptable per specification 15705.  Suction diffusers with strainers are acceptable  as long as manufacturer confirms the NPSHr of the pump is achieved. Question #8 - We would like to know the local Siemans Reps phone number fax and billing address so we can insure that they are ready. Answer #8: We are not able to provide this information.
