Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Mettler Toledo, Columbus, OH, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available, to furnish supreme service on (8) Mass Comparators, preventive maintenance service on (4) Comparator Balances and calibration service on (2) Balances. As the original manufacturer, the Contractor is the only source offering: a) any required replacement parts for the instruments; b) a staff of fully trained field support representatives and engineers completely familiar with the instruments who can offer immediate assistance, ensuring minimal instrument downtime, and c) proprietary software and gauges to properly service the instruments. A fixed price purchase order will be issued on or about Apr. 25, 2007 with a 6-wk. performance period. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement, in writing, no later than the response date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a request for competition.
