Description
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)-Iowa City, is soliciting and intends to award a firm fixed price contract for Architecture/Engineering services for "A/E to RENOVATE INPATIENT CARE AREAS 7E, 7W, AND 5W" at the VAMC in Iowa City, IA. NAICS Code 541310, size standard $4.5 million. Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to provide A/E services as described in the Scope of Work, Qualifications and Services. The scope of work for this project shall include but not be limited to the design services for the renovation of approximately 7,500 GSF on 7E, 7,500 GSF on 7W and 7,500 GSF on 5W. All three areas are inpatient medical surgical wards with little or no renovation since being built in 1950, and are fully sprinkled. The renovation of these wards will eliminate the rooms with three and four beds and congregate bath facilities. The new rooms will be either private or semiprivate with individual or shared toilet facilities. The selected firm will perform complete design services under this project, and construction of each of the three wings will be separate projects, to be completed in three separate fiscal years. The firm selected will provide separate bid packages that include contract documents with architectural, mechanical and electrical to match footprint provided. Certified Industrial Hygienist services will be required since there is asbestos in each of the wings. Existing architectural, electrical and mechanical components will require evaluation for replacement and/or size changes. A/E contract will include design (with reviews), reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections and as-built drawings. Estimated construction cost range is $4.0 to $6.0 million. Estimated cost range for this solicitation is $500,000.01 to $1.0 million. Area of consideration: Firms must be within 150 miles radius, of the VAMC-Iowa City.
