- Description
- The National Institute of Mental Health intends to negotiate with the General Hospital Corporation/Massachusetts General Hospital, for a two year continuation of Contract No. N01MH80001 to complete a large-scale effectiveness clinical trial evaluating the use of moderate-dose lithium in the long-term treatment of bipolar disorder. The project?s goals are to test the treatment strategy in ?real-world? patients and inform more personalized care for all people affected by bipolar disorder. Authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Inherent duplication of cost to the Government and unacceptable delays in completing the project make competition unfeasible for this final phase of the contract, which requires immediate implementation in order to complete the longer-term follow-up period and with data analysis that include both acute and sustained response.
