Description
UNCLASSIFIED NOTICE OF INTENT OF AWARD (MARCH 29, 2007) On behalf of the 377th Contracting Squadron, 377 CONS/LGCA Contracting Officer, in accordance with FAR Part 6.3, intends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order using simplified acquisition procedures to COMSOL, Inc., 1 New England Executive Park, Suite 350, Burlington, MA, 01803. This requirement is for Multi-physics Finite Element Analysis Software that includes: ? Multi-physics Finite Element Analysis Software capable of modeling: Acoustics, Convection, Diffusion, Electromagnetics, Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Structural Mechanics and general 2nd order partial differential equations. Must be customizable with ability of user to enter PDE's. Must work in Windows 64 bit environment and take advantage of dual processors. Must have ability to model all above physics simultaneously. Must have GUI interface for Windows environment with easy-to-use CAD tools. Must have ability to examine initial conditions with same set of tools available to examine post-processor results. Must accept physical parameters with explicit units. Must list units by every physical parameter required by program. Must perform time dependent analysis. Must accept initial and boundary conditions as discrete values or parameterized equations. Must perform 2-D, 3-D, 2-D axisymmetric and 1-D modeling. Must have ability to be expanded by add-on modules incorporating K-epsilon Navier Stokes equation for turbulent fluid flow, thermally induced stress and strain, combined fluid based conduction and convection and CAD import from common 3-D CAD programs like Pro/E. Must have ability to easily examine all physical quantities of interest without re-programming or use of external programs. Must have output functions allowing user-defined output and modification of calculated values by user inputted formulae. ? Performs finite-element-analysis on Chemical Engineering applications without need for further user programming of relevant partial differential equations to include: non-constant velocity Navior Stokes, Non-newtonian flow, non-isothermal flow, k-epsilon turbulence model for Navior Stokes, Porous Media Flow. COMSOL version 3.3a Chemical Engineering Module, PC/Windows Single user license ? Performs finite-element-analysis on Thermal and heat transfer applications without further need for user programming of relevant partial differential equations on the topics of: Conduction, convection, heat sources and sinks, conduction and convection with film coefficients and fluid transport, surface to ambient radiation, surface to surface radiation, thin thermally conducting shells. COMSOL version 3.3a, Heat Transfer Module, single user license for PC Windows ? Accepts and produces scripting which will allow programmable operation of software and allow import of complex, 4-D boundary conditions. COMSOL, Script Module 3.3a for PC/Windows Single user license. ? Imports geometries from files in at least the following standard formats: STEP(.stp), IGES (.igs), SAT (sat) and Parasolid (.x_t) files COMSOL version 3.3a CAD import module ? Performs Finite Element analysis on structural mechanics topics without further need for user programmed partial differential equations: Static and transient analysis, harmonic and eigenvalue analysis, modal analysis, elasto-plasticity, hyperelasticity, viscoelasticity, creep, large deformation geometry, linear and nonlinear structural buckling, shells, beams, plates, cables, Joul heating, piezoelectric coupling, thermal-structural coupling, thermal stresses, structural-thermal-electric coupling. COMSOL version 3.3a, Structural Mechanics Module, single user license for PC Windows. ? The ability of all software items to work seamlessly together under single user interface. One year of technical support to include tailored tutorial on use of software. Unobscured registration, user and technical support relation without complications caused by a third part re-seller. All software must work under Windows XP 64-bit operating system and use parallel processing to take advantage of dual processor computer. COMSOL Multiphysics 3.3a and associated modules. The announcement is in accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(2). The point of contact is Mr. Cale Reedy, (505) 846-8140 and fax (505) 846-4262, email Cale.Reedy@Kirtland.af.mil or the Contracting Officer Mr. Jim Cochran, (505) 846-846-4877, email Jim.Cochran@Kirtland.af.mil . Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement within three (3) days of this announcement. Responses due No Later Than 02 April 2007, 0700 Mountain Standard Time. JAMES P. COCHRAN Contracting Officer
