- Description
- The work consists of the beach nourishment of Sandbridge Beach, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The length of the project to be nourished is approximately 5 miles. The beach berm to be constructed will have a width approximately 50 feet to 75 feet at a hei ght of 7 feet NAVD with a foreshore slope of 1 vertical on 20 horizontal. Approximately 1.5 million cubic yards of sand will be placed on the beach in the Base Bid; however, the contract contains 5 Optional Bid Items of 100,000 cubic yards of sand each. Th e borrow area for this project is located offshore approximately 3 to 5 miles east of Sandbridge Beach. Environmental permits have been obtained by the Government and must be complied with by the Contractor. Marine turtles, piping plovers, least terns, and other native species that might be encountered in the scheduled work area are protected by federal law or are species of special concern for Commonwealth of Virginia agencies. All work to be performed on this contract shall be planned and accomplished in a manner to not disturb the nesting or foraging activities of these birds, marine life and wildlife in any way. The Contractor shall be required to maintain the beach and ocean work areas in a manner to ensure the safe access and egress of the public for t he duration of the contract. The construction duration is 150 calendar days (Base Bid Item) from receipt of Notice to Proceed. An additional 10 calendar days will be added to the contract for each optional bid item exercised by the Government. The magn itude of construction is estimated to be over $10,000,000.00. The receipt date for bids is 17 May 2007. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED PROCUREMENT. NAICS CODE 237990 applies to this procurement. No hard copies will be available. Prospective contractors must be registered in the Federal Technical Data Solutions (FedTeDS, https://www.fed teds.gov) database prior to download of plans and specifications. Prospective contractors must be registered in the DOD Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database prior to award of a contract. Information on registration and annual confirmation requi rements may be obtained by calling 1-888-227-2423 or via the Internet at http://www.bpn.gov.
