Small Business Set-Aside
Total Small Business

Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial supply prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will NOT be issued. The purchase request number is M6789807RCG8468, and is a brand name requirement. This procurement is a Total Set-Aside for Small Business in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The North American Industry Classification System code (NAICS) is 334111, Electronic Computer Manufacturing, the size standard of which is 1,000 employees (Not to exceed). For the purpose of bidding on Federal contracts that are set aside for small business, the concern must self-certify to be a small business under the appropriate size standard set forth in this synopsitation. The size of the concern at the time of self-certification prevails for that contract. A concern may grow above the size standard before or after award without loss of eligibility to perform on that contract. DESCRIPTION: Clear Cube Equipment. REQUIREMENTS: MARCENT currently owns and operates 32 ClearCube blade systems. The ClearCube system is known as a Thin-Client solution. Each blade is the equivalent of a desktop computer. The blades are stored in a central location and are accessed by the end user through a small box placed on their desk. To the end user, it appears and functions the same as having a computer on the desk. Due to the lack of space at MARCENT, it was determined that this would be the medium of choice in the past. Now, MARCENT personnel have been using the ClearCube systems for a year and MARCENT has a vested interest in money, training, and personnel. The use of ClearCube systems has reduced space allocation, cost per user access, power consumption by ITE systems, and has simplified network management. The additional systems would expand out desktop support to others users while still allowing us to operate within our space constraints. By ordering ClearCube equipment, we eliminate any need for money to be spent on training or man hours lost troubleshooting unfamiliar systems. Additionally, the ClearCube systems would be interchangeable with our existing ClearCube architecture allowing quick and easy installation and eliminating the need to administer two disparate systems. If ClearCubes were not used, this would mean installing a similar system separately and administering two systems adding overhead for training and management. If an "alike" system could not be found, then full desktop computers would have to be ordered which would not fit within the space confines here within the MARCENT headquarters building.
