Description
Battlefield Air Operations (BAO) Industry Day, 23-24 May 2007 The 670th Aeronautical Systems Squadron (AESS) and the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Battlefield Airmen Requirements office will co-host an Industry Day at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, May 23-24, 2007. The meeting will take place at the Hope Hotel & Conference Center. Registration will begin at 0730 on May 23. Light refreshments will be available prior to the meeting convening promptly at 0900. This meeting is meant to initiate the System Development & Demonstration phase of the BAO Human Machine Interface (HMI) program, with a goal of fielding a BAO HMI system for AFSOC. This system will be developed to provide dismounted AFSOC Special Tactics (ST) personnel with the following improved equipment: radio with high-speed data link; laptop or smaller computer; portable electrical power generation and management, capable of providing power to all equipment carried by ST personnel; miniature computer displays worn on/near eye protective goggles/glasses; and communications headset/control systems integrated with the full spectrum of communications equipment used by ST as well as providing hearing protection while in use. Where possible, the Air Force intends to procure and integrate available commercial items. Items currently completing development that will be available in the next 12 months (not later than May 2008) will be considered for Increment I of this program. AFSOC and 670th AESS presentations will explain the program scope and overall schedule in briefings to industry. Industry participants are encouraged to attend and provide demonstrations of current/emerging hardware solutions that address any or all of these equipment needs. Industry participation is limited to a maximum of two (2) per company; individuals should be prepared to discuss/demonstrate their potential hardware solution to a group of AFSOC ST personnel during the session. Time has been set aside during this meeting for vendors to discuss and/or demonstrate their hardware with the Air Force representatives in private session. Any vendor desiring an appointment during the course of the meeting (20 minutes per vendor) should make that request when they register for the meeting. Registration for this meeting can be made by sending an e-mail to Mr. Mark Tucker, the 670th AESS BAO HMI Program Manager, at Mark.Tucker@wpafb.af.mil. Please furnish the Air Force with your company name and indicate the names of no more than two (2) individuals who will be attending. In addition, please include a listing of item(s) of equipment you are suggesting to meet any or all of the needs of the BAO HMI system, (to include the date the hardware is available), and if you require a private discussion/demonstration session. Please RSVP not later than April 27, 2007. Participation in this Industry Day, to include vendor demonstrations of hardware, is totally voluntary and in no way obligates the Government to award any contracts or pay any costs associated with such participation. If desired, hotel rooms are available at the Hope Hotel and reservations can be made directly with them at (937) 879-2696.
