Description
MARKET RESEARCH/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS. The Marine Corps System Command (MCSC) is conducting a market survey to determine the availability of commercial off-the-shelf digital camera equipment that can be procured in a rapid manner as a component of the Infantry Battalion Enhancement Program and Distributed Operations capability. The U.S. Marine Corps has a requirement for 7,606 digital camera kits consisting of the components described below. The initial 195 camera kits shall be delivered no later than June 15, 2007. The second delivery of 453 camera kits shall be delivered no later than July 15, 2007. The remaining 6,958 camera kits shall be delivered no later than September 30, 2007. The following requirements apply to what will be renamed the Squad Digital Camera Kit. - Digital (minimum of 7 mega pixels or better) - Must be able to capture still and video images - Must have an image stabilization capability - Must have a macro mode - Must have a minimum of combined digital and optical zoom of 8x. - Must be capable of manually turning the flash and sound functions off. - Must be submersible to 10 feet without additional protection and not effect operation of the camera. - Must be ruggedized to survive a drop on a hard surface from 5 feet without additional protection. - Must be no more than 4 inches wide, 2.5 inches in height and less than 1.5 inches in depth. - Must come with two rechargeable batteries and these batteries must be able to be recharged from all USMC common field radio batteries and come with one recharging cable capable of connecting to a BB-2590 Battery. - Must come with two 512 MB memory cards. - Must have capability to transfer images from camera to any computer without additional software drivers. - Must come with a camera pouch that is coyote brown in color which will attach utilizing the MOLLE attachment system provided on the Modular Tactical Vest (MTV) and Outer Tactical Vest (OTV). - Must come with a soft case that will protect all items associated with this kit from the environment and have the same material wear characteristics as other pouches worn on the combat load by Marines. Soft case should be less than 15 inches long by 8 inches in width and 6 inches in height with all components in the soft case. - The Squad Digital Camera Kit should be delivered as an integrated suite with camera in a pouch and the camera/pouch inclusive with ancillary equipment in the soft case. The response must identify the model of camera and provide a specification sheet for the camera and all ancillary items addressing all specifications listed in this RFI. The response must also address the vendor?s ability to assemble the components into an integrated kit contained in the soft case and the vendor?s ability to meet the delivery schedule. The Marine Corps will use the results of this announcement to determine what capabilities exist in the marketplace to fulfill the Government's requirements outlined above. MARCORSYSCOM will not pay or provide reimbursement for any costs incurred in the preparation or delivery of the request for information. Interested firms are requested to submit a capability statement, not to excede 10 pages, outlining their ability to meet or exceed this potential requirement no later than 4:00pm EST, 30 March 2007, stating their business size, NAICS Code, and identifying a corporate point of contact. MARCORSYSCOM anticipates using the GSA schedule for this opportunity although interested parties not on the GSA schedule are encouraged to participate. Firms should identify/submit their GSA contract number and schedule, if applicable. Electronic submissions are preferred.
