Description
Questions to RFP: NPV8G17033AS01 1. With regard to subject solicitation, could you please advise if the use of US Citizens is required to perform the work under this contract. Answer: YES 2. I have retrieved 4 documents from FEDTEDS. I do not find any documents requiring sample translations; do you not wish to see sample translations? Answer: NO 3. Your spreadsheet lists the languages you want us to price; do you want only one standard price, or rates for standard, rush and economy? Answer: Please submit your prices 4. Is there any special set-aside for small businesses or woman-owned businesses in this solicitation? Answer: NO 5. Do we need to send you a notification that we will be bidding on this solicitation? Answer: Please do 6. The SOW states: "Symbols that are unique to the maritime community will be retained in the original configuration and placed in the corresponding location within the translated text. All graphs will be retained and the translation of all words related to the text will be provided." In addition, it also states: "All Foreign Notice to Mariners, that require translation will be provided to the Contractor in either hardcopy or softcopy format. If the GFM's are delivered to us in a hardcopy format or in an in-editable softcopy format (i.e.: PDF), we will have to literally build the graphs from scratch in order to lay out the English wording in their corresponding location. Furthermore, if these GFM's are indeed in-editable by virtue of being hardcopies or PDF's (for example), we will have to build and layout the entire document from scratch. Your RFQ makes no allowance for that (design or graphic services, etc.) in its Excel sheet, as it only requests a per-word quote for the translation. Should we factor in the cost and time of graphic design/layout, etc. in the per word quote per language? Please explain. Answer: The source required for translation will be in hard copy format, specifically Sailing Directions Volumes. When a graph is embedded in the text, the graph will be scanned and the corresponding translated text added to the graph. This cost should be incorporated into your quote. 7. Will the Requestor provide a Glossary of Terms or any similar document of specific terminology or frequently used words or expressions? Answer: No glossary of terms or frequently used words available for this solicitation. End questions
