Description

The Shasta/McCloud Management Unit (SMMU), Mt. Shasta and McCloud Ranger Districts of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest has a requirement for Site Preparation on recently logged Federal Lands using a mastication machine on approximately 350 acres. The Government is requiring a mastication machine that will masticate/mulch residual non-continuous fuels, small diameter unwanted conifers, and all brush within the work units. The Government requires a mastication machine that shall be able to ?mulch? any residual logging debris, undesirable conifer seedling, all brush, and undesirable softwood species up to 8 inches DBH, and leave a unit ready for hand and/or machine planting. The Government has determined mastication from units with rotary heads, such as Shar or excavator-type machines leave most of the masticated material on the ground. SCHEDULED PRE-BID TOUR: A pre-bid tour is scheduled for May 1, 2007, 9:00 a.m. at the Mt. Shasta Ranger Station. Prospective contractors are to provide their own transportation. PROJECT LOCATION: Treatment areas are located on the Mt. Shasta and McCloud Ranger Districts, Shasta-Trinity National Forest. CONTRACT TIME: 65 calendar days. ESTIMATED START WORK DATE will be in late May or early June, 2007. Solicitation issue date will be on April 16, with an estimated due date of May 15, 2007. The solicitation will be posted at this website for viewing and printing. AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATION: Prospective contractors are requested to self-register below to receive email notification of any postings concerning this project, such as amendments.
