Description
Seeking vendor for a custom-assembled, "universal" pistol cleaning kit, suitable for 9mm and .40 cal firearms. Kits MUST meet specs as set forth in the Statement of Work below: STATEMENT OF WORK The ICE Academy and field offices have a requirement for pistol cleaning kits. These cleaning kits are necessary to keep the firearms operational and safe. Currently, the NFTTU supplies two separate pistol cleaning kits: a 9mm kit and a .40cal kit. It has been determined that combining the two kits into one universal kit would be more efficient and less expensive than maintaining two different kits with very little difference in the contents. Therefore, the NFTTU has drafted the acceptable kit content requirements, as set forth below. DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS OF UNIVERSAL CLEANING KIT A. The following descriptions and specifications are for a ?universal? cleaning kit for 1. .40 Smith & Wesson, and a 9mm caliber pistol. a. Estimated usage for pistol cleaning kits: 2000 per year B. The pistol cleaning kit shall be comprised of the following components: 1 each, steel rod with handle 1 each stainless steel or brass slotted patch holder 2 each phosphor bronze bristle .40cal AND 9mm bore brushes (4 brushes total) 1 each nylon bristle ?tooth? brush 1 each 2FL (fluid once) plastic bottle commercially available cleaner Lubricant/protectant (CLP) for firearms (see below) 50 each cotton flannel cleaning patches 1 each storage pouch imprinted with ?NFTTU? emblem C. Cleaning kit specifications 1. Pistol cleaning rod shall be of steel, 6-1/2 inches long, plus or minus ? inch, not including handle. A handle, which incorporates ball bearings or similar, to allow for free rotation of the rod, will be permanently affixed to one end. b. Commercially available firearms cleaning solvents shall not damage the handle material or rod itself. c. The rod shall have sufficient lateral strength to withstand without damage to the rod, handle or bearings, a pressure of 20 pounds placed on the center of the rod while the rod is supported horizontally by ? inch of its tip and the handle. 2. Slotted stainless or brass patch holder shall be threaded to match appropriate rod, as described above. 3. Bore bristles, phosphor bronze brushes: bristle area approximately 1 ? inch in length, threaded to match appropriate rod, as described above. 4. Cleaning brush (toothbrush style) to be approximately 7 inches long, nylon or polypropylene, with nylon bristles on both ends, multiple rows (approx. 3/8 inch long) on one end, single row (approx. 3/16 inch long on other end). Entire brush to be resistant to firearms cleaning solvents. 5. Cleaner/lubricant/protectant, 2oz plastic bottle with nipple shaped dispenser, manufactured by Break Free, CLP or Formula 3 Gun Conditioner by Kleen-Bore, or equal. 6. Cleaning patches (50 each) approximately 2 ? inches square, .020-.030 inch thick, white, 100% cotton flannel, for use on a .40 cal or 9mm firearm. 7. Storage container, using either a zippered or Velcro closure, to be a durable canvas or nylon pouch with permanent compartments that separate cleaner/lubricant from brushes, patch holder, patches, cleaning rods and brushes. All components of each cleaning kit shall fit conformability, so as to be easily removed and replaced. However, it is the Government?s desire that the storage container be as compact as possible.
