Description
The US Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is seeking potential sources for the manufacturing of metal parts for the 155mm, HE, M795 projectile including Flexible Rotating Band Cover (FRBC). These Projectile Bodies are made from high fragmentation steel alloy, HF-1, have a finished weight of approximately 75 lbs, are approximately 30 inches long, have a curved exterior with a maximum outside diameter of approximately 6.1 inches, and a minimum wall thickness of 0.3 inch in the ogive. The bodies are hollow, and must be manufactured to exacting tolerances. Stringent quality assurance and performance criteria, including 100% Ultrasonic Testing, apply to these components. Delivery requirements of 5,000 ??? 20,000 Projectile Bodies per month will necessitate the use of high volume production equipment including machining centers, heat treatment facilities, and metal finishing facilities. Also, specialty equipment, including long stroke forging presses, rotating band welders, and projection welders, will be required to manufacture the components described above. The contractor(s) shall provide for all necessary labor, materials, supplies, services, facilities, and equipment to produce the 155mm, HE, M795. Respondents must demonstrate that they have the capability to satisfy the above requirements. This announcement is for informational planning purposes only, and is not a Request For Proposal. Interested manufacturers are requested to submit a capabilities statement by e-mail to wtenz@pica.army.mil. The statement should address, at a minimum, the items delineated under the numbered note indicated below. Numbered Note #25 applies.
