- Description
- The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a purchase order on a sole source non-competitive basis to Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA. FDA will purchase a Bio-Plex 200 System including onsite training for the instrument. The instrument is based on three unique components: 1. Fluorescently dyed microspheres (bead), the colors (as read by a laser) of which acts as labels for the specific target molecule and are a technology licensed from Luminex Corporation. 2. A flow cytometer with two lasers (one which identified the color code of the bead and one which measures the quantity of the target) and associated optics to measure biochemical reactions that occur on the surface of the beads. 3. A high-speed digital signal processor to efficiently manage the fluorescent output and allow many reactions of measurements to monitor simultaneously. The maintenance, calibration and validation protocol of the instrument is proprietary. The instrument has been validated as part of Center for Disease Control?s Laboratory Response Network (LPN) FDA intends to make an award immediately after the response date of this notice. This is not a request for quotes; however sources may submit descriptive literature, fully documenting their capabilities, which will be considered by the agency. A determination to compete this procurement based on response(s) to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The non-competitive award will be made in accordance to the FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
