- Description
- The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Menlo Systems GmbH, Am Klopferspitz 19, D - 82152 Martinsried, Germany for two high performance femtosecond lasers. The specific requirements include: Passively mode-locked femtosecond fiber laser; Fundamental repetition rate (not time multiplexed or harmonically mode-locked):250 MHz or greater; Output power: >50 mW (can be divided in multiple ports); Operating wavelength: 1560 nm; Control of cavity length with PZT (fine control) and stepper motor (coarse control); Pump power (fine) and internal wedge (coarse) to control the CEO frequency; Pulse width <150 fs. Based on market research, Menlo Systems is the only source that can fulfill all of the requirements and most importantly they offer a fiber laser with a fundamental 250 MHz repetition rate, an internal wedge for coarse CEO control, and a stepper motor for coarse repetition rate control. Delivery is required by April 30, 2007. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100K). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement. Respondents must provide sufficient documentation that address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. Any questions regarding this notice shall be submitted in writing (e-mail preferred) no later than close of business March 19, 2007. Anticipated award date is March 16, 2007.
