- The Joint Contracting Command-Iraq hereby gives notice of its intention to award a sole source purchase order to American Science and Engineering Inc. on or about 4 March 2007. In accordance with FAR 6.303 and 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii), services have been deemed to be available only from the original source in the case of a follow-on contract for the continued development or production of a major system and competition would result in both substantial duplication cost to the Government and unacceptable delays in fulfilling the agency?s requirement. The primary purpose of this action is to procure service and preventative and corrective maintenance of 22 Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV) and 7 66Z+ X-ray inspection systems utilized by CPATT at various Ports of Entry (POEs) located throughout Iraq in support of Ministry of Interior inspections for contraband and explosives. It also includes bumper to bumper services for the chassis van that houses the ZBV X-ray technology. This announcement constitutes the only notice. The reference number is W91GY0-07-R-0042.
