Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is seeking sources that can deliver a High Performance Computing Machine for performing physics based computation. This system will be tailored to meet the requirements for parallel numerical computations of large problems with computational fluid dynamics, finite element and hydrocode software. The system will also run visualization software for the large data sets produced by the numerical computations as well as mesh generation software to produce large computational meshes for complex geometries. Numerical software such as the CTH and ALE3D hydrocodes, LSDYNA finite element software and CRAFT flow solver are to be run on this system. Candidate systems must meet all of the following technical requirements. Key aspects of the machine are as follows: 1). ???64-bit??? CPU architecture. 2). Low-latency interconnect. 3). Rack-mount physical build. 4). ???Turn-Key??? level of integration. Detailed minimum specificati ons follow: 1). 2 GB RAM per compute CPU core. 2). User I/O capabilities with workstation level graphics (e.g. nVidia Quadro), high resolution LCD display, keyboard and mouse. 3). Rack mounted slide-out LCD, Keyboard, Trackpad. 4). Low-latency interconnect (myrinet, infiniband, etc.) 5). Gigabit ethernet network. 6). 42U population space premium racks as required. 7). Power distribution system should have a minimum of 10 percent margin when machine is running at 100 percent utilization. 8). Installed and configured software will include queuing system, centralized node-monitoring software, machine imaging and maintenance tools (if a cluster), at least one 64-bit compiler (Portland Group if available for machine???s architecture), and at least one MPI implementation. 9). Installed and configured directly attached mass storage (4 TB or greater). 10). High quality Power Distribution Units (APC AP9563 or equivalent). NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. This request is for information only and is intended to identify items currently available or companies capable of providing the required system. All offerors must be advised that they must be active in the Central Contractor Registration database at http://www.ccr.gov before award can be made. When responding, please reference sources sought announcement number N00178-07-Q-1906, provide the company name, point of contact, telephone and facsimile numbers, internet address, business size, and specific information regarding your capabilities to provide the scientific visualization system described herein. Interested parties should reply by submitting a White Paper no later than 06 March 2007 to Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren, XDS117, 17632 Dahlgren Road, Suite 102, Dahlgren VA 22448-5110. Faxed copies acceptable at (540) 653-7088, Attention Code XDS117. Email copies accepted at DLGR_NSWC_XDS11@NAVY.MIL. Questions may be directed to (540) 653-7478. NSWCDD Procurement Division has implemented Electronic Commerce (EC) in the acquisition area; therefore, this synopsis and any applicable amendments will be available on the World Wide Web at http://www.nswc.navy.mil/wwwDL/XD/SUPPLY. Hard copies WILL NOT be provided. Vendors should regularly access the NSWCDD Web Site to ensure that they have downloaded all amendments.
