- The Department of Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Center System, Martinez plans to issue a Request for Proposal to obtain a cost-effective and efficient means to meet the medical needs of VA beneficiaries when VA medical facilities are not available and/or not appropriate for the beneficiary's use. The Contractor will be required to provide a full spectrum of urgent and emergent inpatient medical and surgical services, which it is licensed to provide and/or capable of providing through other sources, to VA patients located in the proximity of Alameda County, California. All services will be accomplished in accordance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) Hospital Accreditation Standards, and other regulatory agencies. The services include inpatient medical and surgical services such as medical and surgical acute care services, and services typically provided by a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Step-down/Transitional Care Unit, Sub-Acute Care Unit, and Coronary Care Unit. Services will also include Diagnostic Radiology Services for acute hospitalized patients, i.e. Computed Tomography (CT) Scans, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Ultrasound. All services will be accomplished at the contractor's facilities. NAICS code 622110 applies with a size standard of $31.5 million. The contract will be an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity type contract and is expected to include a one-year basic period, with four one-year options. The solicitation number for this RFP is VA-261-07-RP-0020. Solicitations will be issued o/a February 23, 2007, with an anticipated proposal due date of March 27, 2007.
