Description
SOURCES SOUGHT. This is a sources sought announcement only! This is not a solicitation announcement. The purpose of this announcement is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources such as 8(a), HubZone, small disadvantage, service disabled veteran owned business and small businesses relative to NAICS 811219, size standard $6.5M. Responses will be used to determine appropriate acquisition decisions. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VAMC Hampton, VA is seeking sources for a potential single contract award to provide Preventive Maintenance on Cryostats, Ultramicrotome's, and Microtomes in accordance with the below Preventive Maintenance Specifications for the VAMC Durham, North Carolina. The intended contract is anticipated as one base year, with 4 option years. Responses to this Sources Sought request must include 1. Point of Contact, 2. Company Name, 3. Address, 4. Confirmation that your company has the capability to provide the required services reflected in the below Preventive Maintenance Specifications. Responses shall be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the attention of Timothy Vaughn (590/90C), Hampton VAMC, 100 Emancipation Drive, Bldg 27, Hampton, VA 23667, Fax number (757) 728-3132, or timothy.vaughn1@med.va.gov. Telephone responses will not be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. EST on February 13, 2007. No solicitation is available at this time; this is to acquire information only. Responses to this request shall not be considered a request to be added to any mailing list or to receive a copy of a solicitation. Vendors interested in providing an offer will have to respond to a separate solicitation announcement that shall be published separately. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS FOR CRYOSTAT AND MICROTOME EQUIPMENT Only one (1) Preventative Maintenance (PM) service will be required per 12 month period of the Contract Service performed by factory authorized service engineers, utilizing factory specified tooling and test equipment, and installing only factory original spare parts. Contractor shall provide all labor, parts, materials, equipment, and transportation to: - Disassemble, clean, and relubricate micrometer feed system, coarse feed advance, sledge assembly bearings, and handwheel bearings. Reassemble and adjust bearing and micrometer cylinder tension settings to factory specifications. Calibrate micrometer advance to factory specifications over entire sectioning range. - Disassemble, clean, and relubricate specimen orientation and clamp, knife holder, and knife base. - Inspect, test, and calibrate the following electronics if applicable; motorized coarse feed advance, electronic micrometer advanced system, automated sectioning modes, and controls. - Perform refrigeration system checks for proper temperature performance. Refrigeration service shall be performed to current Environmental Protection Agency guidelines concerning Ozone depleting CFC's. All Service Engineers shall be EPA universal certified for refrigerant recovery and servicing. All refrigeration service shall be performed to factory specifications. Components, which have been subject to damage, abnormal, wear, improper use or maintenance, or neglect and require replacement and/or major repair will be billed as additional charges at prevailing rates. Notification of additional charges will be submitted for approval. The Contractor warrants quality of workmanship to be performed in a competent manner and service parts installed in connection with such service shall be free of defects. All service warranties and repairs for warranty are limited in time for a minimum period of ninety (90) days. Warranty on service parts is for a period of one year. The warranty period shall commence on the date of completion of services and/or installation of service parts. The Contractor shall complete a written service report documenting all service performed during service visit. The Government shall be required to disinfect and clean cryostat chamber and microtome prior to the Contractor's Service Engineer performing service inside cryostat chamber.
