Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is contemplating a sole source purchase to the University of Chicago Press pursuant to FAR subpart 13,106(b)(1). The objectives of this purchase is to peer-review and publish nine background manuscripts and the introductory explanation in the Clinical Infectious Disease Journal, the only journal that publishes manuscripts from influential meetings as a supplementation journal issue that gets distributed to the infectious diseases community that provides STD treatment services. Publications of the evidence-based systematic reviews are necessary to describe the available evidence in several topic areas included in the 2006 CDC STD Treatment Guidelines. These background papers describe the various study types, population and setting, treatment regimens or other interventions, outcome measures, and potential limitations to the reported findings. Background documents from previous STD Treatment Guidelines publications in 1998 and 2002 have been published in a special supplement edition of Clinical Infectious Diseases in January 1999 and October 2002. These manuscripts contain detailed explanations of the recommendations in the 2006 CDC STD Treatment Guidelines and are an important resource for providers to supplement information contained in the guidelines. The performance period is effective date of award through April 30, 2007. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation will be offered.
