Description
The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions from prospective vendors. Question 1: Is this strictly 'clean and paint' or is there some restorative work needed? Answer 1: The antenna requires a complete pressure wash. The removal of rust and treating of the affected areas are required before painting will be required. A primer coat is also required for any treated areas. Question 2: Is the 18-meter antenna only a dish, or is it housed within a dome? Answer 2: The 18-meter antenna is a elevation over azimuth tracking system. Mounted on a 57 foot concrete pedestal, all of which requires painting. This includes all access stairs and platforms. Question 3: What is the 18-meter antenna made of (fiberglass, aluminum, steel)? Answer 3: The 18-meter parabolic antenna is made of 6061 aluminum. The rest of the structure is made of galvanized steel. Question 4: Is the 18-meter antenna on a building, or a tower, or on the ground (pedestal)? Answer 4: The system is mounted on a concrete pedestal. Question 5: What is the azimuth of the antenna? (Will affect scaffolding requirements.) Answer 5: Due to the configuration of the system scaffolding will not be usable. A manlift or Bucket-truck with a 100 foot reach may be the only way to reach all of the areas that are to be addressed. Question 6: Can you provide any pictures and/or drawings of the 18-meter antenna? Answer 6: Please see the picture available at http://heron.nrl.navy.mil/contracts/rfp/07ks02.htm. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (30-JAN-2007); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
